Transact Campus and CBORD expand partnership with USEFULL to enhance sustainable campus dining
Transact Campus and CBORD, providers of campus technology and payment solutions, have announced an expanded partnership with USEFULL to support sustainable takeout dining at colleges and universities.
The collaboration aims to increase the availability of reusable stainless-steel containers through Transact and CBORD’s procurement channels, streamlining implementation for institutions and improving integration with campus dining systems.
The initiative builds on USEFULL’s existing integration with campus ID systems, allowing students to check out reusable containers using their student ID or mobile credential. Future enhancements will extend integration to mobile ordering, kiosks, and point-of-sale systems. The partnership aligns with increasing efforts by universities to reduce plastic waste and mitigate health concerns linked to microplastics.
Chris Setcos, Senior Vice President of Partnerships and M&A at Transact, emphasized the significance of the collaboration:
"This enhanced partnership reinforces our commitment to bringing sustainable campus dining to our higher education clients. By elevating USEFULL's innovative stainless-steel takeout solution within our portfolio, we're enabling colleges and universities to implement transformative dining programs that align with their environmental goals while delivering a better dining experience for students."
The partnership expands the availability of USEFULL’s reusable takeout containers to more than 85,000 students at institutions using Transact and CBORD services. Students can check out the stainless-steel containers at dining halls by scanning their campus ID cards or mobile credentials.
USEFULL's platform provides tracking and reporting capabilities, allowing institutions to monitor waste reduction, water conservation, and emissions prevention. Students can participate by downloading the USEFULL app, which integrates with campus ID systems for a seamless user experience.
Alison Cove, CEO and Founder of USEFULL, highlighted the broader impact of the collaboration:
"We're proud to strengthen our alliance with Transact and CBORD to accelerate the adoption of sustainable takeout solutions across higher education."
