Wiley expands leadership with appointment of Karen N. Madden to Board of Directors

Wiley has appointed Karen N. Madden, Ph.D., to its Board of Directors. Madden is the Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at MilliporeSigma, the U.S. and Canada Life Science division of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany.

At MilliporeSigma, Madden is responsible for overseeing the company’s technology strategy and long-term research and development (R&D) initiatives. She leads the Life Science Innovation Board and helps balance high-impact, long-term projects with short-term growth strategies. Additionally, she is part of the company’s executive leadership team, which oversees the governance of its $9 billion life sciences business.

Background in Scientific Innovation

Madden has an extensive background in scientific research and technology development. Before joining MilliporeSigma, she served as Senior Vice President and Chief Innovation Officer at PerkinElmer, where she led innovation efforts across multiple business sectors. She also actively engages with universities, startups, and industry organizations to strengthen collaborations within the scientific community. In addition to her corporate leadership roles, she represents Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany, as the U.S. Country Speaker, facilitating strategic initiatives among the company’s U.S.-based employees.
