Emerson College and Vicinity Energy collaborate to achieve carbon neutrality with eSteam

Emerson College in the USA has announced a long-term partnership with Vicinity Energy to implement eSteam, a carbon-free thermal energy solution, across its campus. 

In doing so, Emerson will be the first college to convert all its heating operations to carbon-neutral energy.

Located in Boston’s Theatre District, Emerson College will utilise Vicinity's eSteam to heat its 1.5 million-square-foot campus. The partnership supports Emerson's goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2030.

Kevin Hagerty, president of Vicinity Energy, highlighted the potential impact of the collaboration:

 "We are thrilled to embark on this transformative journey with Emerson College. With innovative technologies and solutions like eSteam, we can offer a replicable model for higher education institutions to rapidly decarbonise. 

“Together, we are leading by example, demonstrating the positive impacts of sustainable energy solutions on our communities and the environment."

Emerson College is regularly ranked among the top 50 Green Colleges in the U.S. and has earned Gold status in the AASHE Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System, which evaluates the sustainability performance of colleges and universities.

Jennifer Lamy, associate director of sustainability at Emerson, stated:
